Bloody Electrics!

After doing all the repairs to the drivers side, I'm left with trying to sort all the wiring now for the lights. Basically, they all got damaged/cut with the impact.

So, as the power comes from the N/S, and all the wires are the same colour, ie green with yellow trace in order to figure out which wire is which, if all is disconnected on the O/S, and I turn on say, the side lights, I should be able to find with an earthed test lamp, the correct wire for the side light. Then in turn, do all the rest, dipped, main and driving lamps. anything left over will be earth leads, and make all the connections. Is this the way to complete successfully please? And if I should be so bold, wouldn't it be a good idea to have a sub section on electrics on here, if it doesn't already exist. Smashin' little car, the 205, but the electrics are crap!!

That would be ok to find out what wire does what. I can tell you all earth wires will be green with a yellow tracer.
