MerlinGTI 3 Posted March 19, 2010 (edited) One of 'those' jobs which I have been putting off since Ive had my 205 is the minging battery tray. In an other wise rot free car it seemed a shame to have a large lump of rusty metal bolted to the chassis leg, but sorting it out has become one of those poxy jobs I just couldnt be arsed to sort out... Dont panic Ive had a burst of energy or late and its sorted now. Heres the piccys: Oh dear, see what I mean? Nasty. Heres one I purchaced off the forum earlier! Sporting some black hammerite. Not my cup of tea, but better than the tray on the car, and it allows me to sort this one one without taking the car off the road. Big gap in the pictures im afraid. The tray was shot blasted with aluminium oxide, Granville rust converted, Flatted, Acid etch primed (in pic above), Flatted, Seam Sealed, Primed and painted in Alpine white (HS). Old vs New! And again Once more for good measure. My poor inner wing/Chassis leg! Good old Super Resin Polish! Love you!! Wax'ed, all new nuts and bolts, wax oil'ed... Finished. I wont mention it took over an hour to get the bottom two bolts in Bastard captive nuts!! Hate 'um. Edited March 19, 2010 by MerlinGTI

MerlinGTI 3 Posted March 19, 2010 Having a spare is the key, you can take your sweet time then This is the route I've gone with most of the bits on my car, takes the stress out of it all. That took about a week of 'an hour here, half hour there'. My good friend Tony Bartelo did the oven work, I did all the blasting/treating/general prep Thanks for your kind coments.
