Anyone Got A Stripped Mi16 Head Want To Measure Something?

Recommended Posts

Doof

I need to find out the distance between the top of a valve in an Mi16 head and the spring seat as my spring seats have been machines but i don't know how much by...

If anyone has a bare Mi16 head and could measure this distance I'd really really appreciate it!!

Thanks,

Lewis

I think Sandy could give you a measurement to look at, but it varies if the valve seats have ever been cut.

Probably better to measure from a point on the head down to the seat rather than the tip of a valve.

Surely the valve top is the important bit? The casting around the valve can't be that accurate and as you say any valve cutting (of which there has been much) will move the valve and I need to factor this in as well...

it is the important bit with regards to setting valve spring heights, but it'd be useless as a comparative measurement to another untouched head if you don't know how much the seats and valves have been cut, if at all.

Ahh sorry yea, i was thinking against a standard uncut head but they're probably all going to differ slightly. I see what you mean. Think I'll give Sandy a ring tomorrow ;)
