Wipers - Shorter Wiper Arms?

Recommended Posts

daveo

right, this might sound like a stupid question but, would, for example 106 wiper arms fit onto the 205 spindle?

i ask this because a want to drop the drives side wiped area down as i find there is a large ares towards the bottom of the screen that isn't touched.

i'm using a sunstrip as the car will be rallied in the future.

any ideas?

if nothing else could i could use a 2nd passinger side arm??

Can't you just rotate the arm round a spline or two on the spindle so it clears the bottom? Or do you mean the semi-circle in the centre of the screen?

Stating the obvious here - why not simply cut a length out of the arm and weld it back together?

An alternative - when I had a gayboy single wiper set up on my first GTI, I used the smooth rear wiper arm from a 306. That had a short blade on it, so might be suitable if you don't mind a single wiper set up. I didn't like it as it didn't clear the top corner, but I guess you are sitting low in a bucket seat so not an issue (and you have the sunstrip). Having said that, since it uses a shorter blade, you might still have just as much uncleared arc at the bottom. In fact forget this suggestion completely :) and go with my first.

what i was thinking was, is something similar but using to wiper arms, and using a bigger blade...
