Zx Volcane Arb On 205

Recommended Posts

foreigner

I just compared the ZX arb with my 205 and it's properly thick, I mean much thicker.

However I put it in 205 subframe and it look like it will fit - upside down.

Has anyone done it?

Advantages? - I thinking of using 306 shocks

Disadvantages?

It will be thicker, 22/24mm. Length wise it won't fit in a 205 beam, as its too long.

Thanx Al,

I rather forgot to mention that I am talking about the front ARB hence the subframe.

it'll be a similar diameter to the rear ones on the ZX, though I would imagine also wider and may foul the wheels on lock.

IF it fits in there though, a 306/zx/xsara droplink would be required, possibly a set of zx/306/xsara dampers as the tab is attached at a different angle.

also need the bushes, and an appropriate clamp, its a different design to the 205 2 bolt/stud type.

my concern if you do manage to get it to fit, is that it'd be an understeery horrible thing to drive, unless you go massive at the rear, then it'll be tricky to drive in the wet, though possibly epic in the dry on smooth tarmac.

to get an idea of what I mean, remove the bolt from a rear ARB lever and go for a drive!

I put them on each other and they are the same width and zx is bit shorter.

Bushes - don't some places do bushes for thicker 205 arb so I could use those.

The main reason behind this is to get rid of the problem with links contact with struts.

The other reason is just to try something else.

Another thought - would be to use slimmer arb from lesser models but still thicker than 205's.

Yes, base models (diesels iirc) have up to a 23mm front arb so you might be able to use those bushes with this one.
