205. Un Sacre Numero Sticker

Recommended Posts

205Rallee

Has anyone ever seen one of these stickers? They used to put them in the back window of new 205s in France. I think they were white and said

205. Un sacre numero

I'd like one for my Euro Rallye, can anyone make one up for me?

PS it had the accents above the "e" same one you get on cafe but I haven't got a clue where it is on the key board!

'A sacred number'?

Yes but in French. Think the 205 might have been in the same font as on the 205 badge and the wording in capital letters.

Nice. Reminds me of the old 'Amedee Le Sorceror' on original R5 Gordini Turbos. :D

This is referred to in the '205 GTI - The Enthusiast's Companion' book - it is noted as not quite meaning 'a sacred number' rather 'What a number !'

Excellent book on early history, development published in 1987

Come up on eBay reasonably often pay approx £8 -10 delivered

From what I gather these are the French "run-out" models made right up to Dec 1998!This is the best I could find (prob need to save it then zoom in )

In the early promotional adverts it also said 205. Quel sacre numero I wonder if that was the "What a number"???? Wish I'd made more of an effort at O-level French now (that gives my age away!)

"Un sacré numéro" translates directly as "A sacred number" although lots of translation sites cannot cope with it. (Babelfish for example)

It doesnt surprise me that an english guide managed to change that :)

"Quel sacré numéro" means "Which sacred number"

How they arrived at "What a number" I have no idea, maybe there was an english language version of the ad that used that phrase?

Here it is on my car. Thanks Jonny.

(Taken using flash, which is why the number plate looks an odd colour)
