Recommended Posts

Sven_2k4

As the title implies I'm after the paint codes and some good pictures of a Works group N 205 GTi.

If anyone has any that'd be a great help as i can only seem to find T16's

Cheers Steve

Here's one, although not sure it was a GpN Car, may have been a Group A, and was Andy Corner's more recently;

A few more of "D666 CVC" for you.

Excuse the quality of the photo as it's hanging on my garage wall as a constant reminder that I need to pull my finger out and get my shell finished..............

Colin McRae in D666 CVC on the RAC. I have the set-up sheets for this car on this event if anyone is interested. I could possibly scan them and put them up on here....

As for Richard Burns's 205..........

Nice pics.

Is this vindication (at last) that it's both legal and chic to have an adhesive number plate stuck to one's bonnet?

Legal - No (unfortunately)

Chic - Yes (absolutely!)

Legal? yes IMO as long as its on the nose and made of the right stuff, size and type face.

Chic? only on a rally car :)

Track day car has passed its MOT for the last 4 years with a stick on plate on the front edge of the bonnet. Its a proper one with reflective background etc.

Chic? only on a rally car B)

Even on a rally car its only cool if a sponsor has paid to have their name where the number plate should be... :)

Hey all

Many thanks for the quick replies!!

If those sheets are avalible I'd definitely be after a copy!

Once the CTi is finished I'll be looking of a rolling 1.9GTi no MOT or Tax so if you've got onewithin 30 miles of Chester i'll be interested ;o)

Cheers Steve

There is quite a few about atm not seen many for sale though, a guy down at a tyre fitters down at the arches had his silver one for sale, there is a poor phase 1 1.6 that needs saving as the owner has just had it sat on his/her drive if you know where Byron Close is you can find it there might be worth asking if they want rid.

I guess you mean looking 'for' a GTI?

Anyway: 'Satpink' has one for sale on here. It's oop north so might be useful to you. 3-4 years of dry storage. White 1.9 with an S16 engine in.

I think the graphics on Richard Burns' car are somehow better. I like those a lot.

F666 OKV

B666 RAC

Anorak off....... ;)

D666 CVC is still on the road according to the DVLA website. B666 RAC is with a chap I know in North Wales. It was sold by Peugeot to a bloke who used it in a few forestry events....until he rolled it. Kelvin then bought the car, and instead of re-shelling it, he re-panelled it and used it for a season. He still has the car........restored.......in it's original shell...... sitting in his garage.

D666 CVC was on ebay a few years back too. It is a bit like George Washingtons axe now having had multiple new heads and handles! The Ex Roger Clark Cossack Mk2 Escort apparently only has the dashboard from the original car!!

I have the regs of the works cars, development cars and service vehicles from 1988 to about 1992 in a file somewhere. There were a lot of AHPs in there too. F666 OKV is Kev Furbers works 205 1300 Rallye and he still has that. B555 SRW is the Sundstrum UK T16. You can see a but of a theme developing with their reg plates :P AC, DU, VC, HP and KV are all Coventry plates where the Ryton works factory was. (RW and WK are also Coventry which appear on some of the last 205s.)

I got a copy of an old VHS video from Peugeot Sport which shows the Young Lions, with the certain D666 CVC car in question, drive by the late Mr McRae dragging its backside along like a dog with worms on the RAC!

That looks like the same data I have. Did you get it from Richard Bestwick (888RMB on here) as I gave him all my info and hard copy files so he could write an article for Torque Magazine a couple of years ago. Alternatively Nathan Marriott appears to be the author of the spreadsheet I have with the same data on, from when he was the PSOOC competition secretary.

I never found out any more details on F888 OKV, but I would love to!

Yep....you're quite right...

According to the M.O.T. Tester's manual.......

2. On Vehicles first Registered on or after 1 January 1973, Check

. the colour of the characters and background

. that the registration plates are fixed vertically, or as close to vertical as is reasonably practical

It can only be failed if.........

a. A front registration plate does not have black characters on a white background

b. a rear registration plate does not have black characters on a yellow background

c. a registration plate not fixed vertically, or as close to vertical as is reasonably practial.

BUT................ It ALL depends on the tester himself.
