Rolando 10 Posted November 10, 2009 what are people views on these? i'm after a passenger wing and i've found one come up cheap but with previous experiences not being good, i was looking at getting one from peugeot. so what are your thoughts? worth the money? hassle? problems? rusting out? many thanks Rolando
MerlinGTI 3 Posted November 10, 2009 Avoid when ever possible In general pattern pats rust quicker and dont fit very nicely. You get what you pay for.
swordfish210 20 Posted November 10, 2009 My cars had 2 pattern front wings on it now. The first one lasted 2 years before it rusted through but this other one i covered in underseal and it seems to be lasting quite nicely. You do get what you pay for so i would buy genuine

SPGTi 2 Posted November 11, 2009 If you PM me your email I can take a pic and send it. They are very difficult to get off though, so it may be scrap when I have got it off but if it is any good I will send more photos. Steve
philfingers 5 Posted November 13, 2009 heat a table knife with a blow torch and try that to break the seal. genuine wings fit so much better. I fitted a pattern one to my rally car and wished i'd spent the extra on a genuine one. I spent ages trying to fit it and it still looks aweful. even pattern ones rust proofed properly will last well
Sven_2k4 0 Posted November 15, 2009 Are peugeot still pretty good at suppling OEM panels? Might be in need of a few for the project.......
cRaig 265 1 Cars Posted November 16, 2009 I got a pair of front wings a couple of weeks ago from my local dealer. Took the usual 4-5 days to arrive. Im happy I spent a bit extra and got genuine ones, but I havent had any experience with pattern ones to compare really.
Chris H 10 Posted November 16, 2009 How much were the wings from the dealer? Trying to decide wether to go OE or pattern part for a wing for my rally car. Not too bothered on fit but don't want it to look awful!
cRaig 265 1 Cars Posted November 16, 2009 Just over 90 quid each, i think

Not too bothered on fit but don't want it to look awful! i reckon some good s/h ones would be better Chris. You didn't bend it did you The bottom of the door area needs a lot of pulling out. No I'm no body specialist but I spent a lot of time trying to get it looking ok and it's sh*te
Chris H 10 Posted November 16, 2009 £90....not bad i suppose for genuine but i think i'll try my luck with a pattern one for £25 ish......unless someone has a tidy Cherry Red passenger wing? I had a granite wall jump out at me on the Jersey Rally last month.....did the steering arm, front wing, rear wing and front and rear arches......was leading the class untill then! Rolando 10 Posted November 16, 2009 wow didnt realise they were that much, might see how much it'l cost to get filled and sprayed
Eliganza 2 Posted November 25, 2009 Yeah, as the others have said, I tried fitting a pattern wing on the weekend (I didn't know as I'd been given it) and it didn't fit well at all, big inconsistent panel gaps. I've had to buy a 2nd hand one off a member on here, worth it in the end if you're after a nice finish to be honest.
mr_exe 1 Posted November 25, 2009 I had a pattern one on my last Gti and the fit was truly awful. I think the last word should go to my mate when having difficulty fitting it said 'bloody happy shopper body panels' every time I looked at it made me wince. In conclusion don't do it.
