Carbon Bonnets

Recommended Posts

Dj_mini

Iv got a fibreglass bonnet currently that flaps at high speed i dont run a slam pannel as my airbox sits there so i cant put a fith pin in with out making up a bracket so id rather not.

So im thinking of getting a carbon bonnet but im unsure if they are any better can any one advise?

Cheers Dan

Its all in the design really, find someone that can do a bit of fibreglass strengthening across the bonnet, or give it a go yourself!

Depends how it's made really, you can add glass to your current one to sort the problem out.

Mine follows the OEM bonnet re-enforcing design on the inside and there's no flapping. The central front lifts ever so slightly at high speeds or with gusts, but only by an inch or so (it just needs a little re-enforcement glassing in really) but otherwise no issues here. Only two pins - it also mounts like a conventional bonnet on the hinges at the rear.

It was a bit of a one-off through AB Motorsport, a trial bonnet from a chap who was making a load of carbon panels for his 205. I kinda got a deal on it but since it was a special, there's no real 'retail price' to it - it was the first try-out panel, so not perfect (for a road car, at least) but ideal for someone who just wanted to chuck it on a rally car and to hell with the quality of the finish!

i can do an auto style one in fiberglass that dosent flap, its not about adding extra fiberglass in its just about making it properly in the 1st place.

comes with or without stock style brace underneath.

can be mounted on stock mounts with the brace no pins at all just like a normal 205 bonnet. obv for racing its best to add pins anyway.
