lemmingzappa 75 1 Cars Posted August 27, 2009 I can't work out how to fit the decal I got from John Goodhand because it's all one piece, and obviously the grille has gaps in it. Does anyone have a mini guide or anything ? Thanks.
MrG 3 Posted August 27, 2009 I think basically you position it on the grille in the location you want then use a sharp scalpal to cut at the base of each grille slat and fold the bit down across the top.
lemmingzappa 75 1 Cars Posted August 27, 2009 Do I stick it on first, then cut it ? Or could I hold it up against the grille and make some small markings, then cut it on a flat surface elsewhere ?
MrG 3 Posted August 27, 2009 (edited) I think you stick it on first whole then do the trimming after (that would be my take on it), does he not have a fitting guide of sorts on his web site? he does, have a look here>> his fitting guide Edited August 27, 2009 by MrG
hexhamstu 9 Posted August 27, 2009 I cut mine up and stuck it on. I would advise agaisnt this. Stick it on as a whole and then cut it. make sure you stick along one edge and then work your way out to avoid bubbles (I ended up with lots of bubbles)
jonnygoodhand 0 Posted August 27, 2009 I think basically you position it on the grille in the location you want then use a sharp scalpal to cut at the base of each grille slat and fold the bit down across the top. This is exactly the way I'd recommend. Stick the sticker on as a whole, then cut along the base of each grille bar, folding back the excess sticker.
Baz 421 Posted August 27, 2009 That's the way i did it too, sort of! I stuck on the first bar carefully avoiding bubbles etc, obviously! Then cut it, then carefully lined it up on the next bar, stuck and cut, repeat for third bar etc!
Atari Boy 11 Posted August 27, 2009 For once I followed the instructions. They have only been on a week but the car feels faster already!
lemmingzappa 75 1 Cars Posted August 27, 2009 In the end I got it done by a pro sign writer as I dont have a scalpel or anything. He originally wanted £10 for the job as that is their minimum charge, but in the end he said dont worry i'll do it for free. (but I gave him £2 for being nice )

Atari Boy 11 Posted August 27, 2009 Sorry Jonny does look right on a red car as the red cant be seen I know it is not ideal Carl but I don’t care. It is the first car I have ever owned with a go faster stripe! They will save me about 2 seconds a lap at Cadwell.
MrG 3 Posted August 27, 2009 in that case I'll try and keep behind you for some tow! I'm running stripe less at the mo.
Carl Chambers 7 2 Cars Posted August 27, 2009 mines going to be well fast in that case as I have stripes front, back and sides, and their really big!!!

Tom Fenton 1,526 Posted August 27, 2009 I have no stripes at all, this must mean I will be at a distinct disadvantage.

MrG 3 Posted August 28, 2009 I saw the post regards the best pictures. I must stop by and have a look at this shell Baz.
Baz 421 Posted August 28, 2009 It's in bits at the moment, but will be ready for next season. The one above is 'ABC' - a white Mi i've had for a few years now, just barely turned a wheel in that time as it was being rebuilt from the shell up. It's now actually a bit redundant what with the other ones i have, but i can't really see me getting rid now afer everything tbh!
