Pts Grille Stripe

I can't work out how to fit the decal I got from John Goodhand because it's all one piece, and obviously the grille has gaps in it.

 

Does anyone have a mini guide or anything ?

I think basically you position it on the grille in the location you want then use a sharp scalpal to cut at the base of each grille slat and fold the bit down across the top.

Do I stick it on first, then cut it ?

 

Or could I hold it up against the grille and make some small markings, then cut it on a flat surface elsewhere ?

I think you stick it on first whole then do the trimming after (that would be my take on it), does he not have a fitting guide of sorts on his web site?

I cut mine up and stuck it on. I would advise agaisnt this. Stick it on as a whole and then cut it. make sure you stick along one edge and then work your way out to avoid bubbles (I ended up with lots of bubbles)

This is exactly the way I'd recommend.

 

Stick the sticker on as a whole, then cut along the base of each grille bar, folding back the excess sticker.

That's the way i did it too, sort of!

 

I stuck on the first bar carefully avoiding bubbles etc, obviously! Then cut it, then carefully lined it up on the next bar, stuck and cut, repeat for third bar etc!

For once I followed the instructions.

They have only been on a week but the car feels faster already!

In the end I got it done by a pro sign writer as I dont have a scalpel or anything.

 

He originally wanted £10 for the job as that is their minimum charge, but in the end he said dont worry i'll do it for free. (but I gave him £2 for being nice )

I know it is not ideal Carl but I don’t care. It is the first car I have ever owned with a go faster stripe! They will save me about 2 seconds a lap at Cadwell.

It's in bits at the moment, but will be ready for next season.

 

The one above is 'ABC' - a white Mi i've had for a few years now, just barely turned a wheel in that time as it was being rebuilt from the shell up. It's now actually a bit redundant what with the other ones i have, but i can't really see me getting rid now afer everything tbh!
