Engine Cleaning

hi everyone

 

im now nipping out to tesco and im just wondering is there any random cheap house hold products that are good for cleaning up my engine while its out?

Cillit Bang is a good option, however you can't beat a good engine degreasant such as Gunk or Comma HyperClean

I used mr muscle oven cleaner on a set of really grimey brakes recently, worked quite well with a few aplications

 

The best stuff ive used that doesnt disolve your mortal flesh (ie. wont melt paintwork etc...) is AutoGlym Engine and machince cleaner. Puckka stuff.

 

Gunk is rubbish imo. Ive heard good thinks about 'jizz' or is it 'gizz' ? dunno. I know it has a funny name tho espically when you suggest that you sprayed jizz all over your engine

I've only used Gunk once and i thought it was OK, the Comma stuff is much better though, however the stuff i used to do my latest engine block was friggin awesome:

Gunk used to be amazing, but about 3 years ago they changed the formula and it's crap now.

 

If you try Cillit Bang then read the back of the bottle, because it's not suitable for use on certain metals.

Jizer is the stuff you're thinking of, it does a pretty good job I cleaned all my stuff with it.

Sorry, i did it outside my garage My mate got me some chemicals from work which he said they sometimes use to strip metals back to bare again. He also said wear a gas mask as the fumes from the chemicals can give you liver cancer

i had a bash with some cillit bang but it didnt quite have the effect i had hoped so i gave up but it might just have been the fact i got a bit bored scrubbing. there must be an easier way of doing it? hmm
