Bilstein B6 Sports

Recommended Posts

r.u.sure

I'm going to be replacing my front suspension soon and am looking at getting some Bilstein B4's or possibly B6 Sports.

My question is 'can these be used with the lowering springs that came with my Koni adjustables' ??

I've read somewhere on the forum that they can't because they're not shorter travel dampers, but then I read on Balance Motorsport website that they 'can be Matched to a set of lowering springs.'

Please can somebody clear this up for me as I'm a little confused :)

Many thanks in advance

Dave

IIRC, the B4s are standard length uprated dampers, so it's not ideal to use them with lowering springs, in the same way it's not ideal to use the standard dampers with lowering springs, but that doesn't mean it's not possible (I've used standard dampers and Eibach 7001 -40mm springs and found them quite a nice match). The B6s are (IIRC) the same as the B4s but with a shorter stroke for use with lowering springs.

Miles knows all of this off by heart so he'd be the ideal person to clear it up.

B4 are just std, You can run springs with them and on the road are fine, B6's again are for std height springs and not lowered which is what the B8 version is, Not all B4, B8 etc are available for the 205

Aren't the B6's also the inverted mono tube style as well?

Graham.

Thanks very much for the replies and for clearing that up for me :)

Going to go with the B4's and a set of Eibach springs.

Yes Graham the B6's are the inverted mono tube style, would be nice, just can't justify the expense at the moment.

Thanks again

Dave
