Likely To Cause Me Grief?

Recommended Posts

MerlinGTI

one of my trailing arms has lost a tooth for its TB. All other teeth are ok and look in good condition, it was just that one that was a blob of rust and disolved. The TB's I have are not orginal to these arms and like new, all teeth in good condition.

Is this likely to cause me any problems come refit time?

Cheers

I wouldn't worry about 1 missing with the surface engagement of all the rest.

cool :) I did think that but wanted some re-assureance before it all gets built up and put on the car. The idea of fitting everything up, beam on the car lowering it down ready to drive off and it jumps teeth would boil my piss :(

Thanks Tom!

In actual fact are you sure there was a tooth there? I'm certain some arms I've used have one not formed.

im not 100% sure no, they were badly caked up. I just assumed it rotted to bits and got scraped out with the rest of the crud when I attacked it with a pick/triangular needle file. It does strike me as odd that only 1 tooth died, the others are in very good nick considering its probably 20 years old.

As long as it wont have any negitive effects im happy

100% normal, that's how they were made :)

Though exactly why I'm unsure, probably for alignment purposes in the assembly process
