Patching Holes In The 205

Recommended Posts

Ive got a few rust spots in the boot floor of my 205 that are in need of welding up

Does anyone know the sheet steel thickness of the bootfloor? or can anyone reccomend a good thickness sheet steel they use for patches?

I use 1.6mm, although it might be quicker for you to find a 205 in a scrappy and cut the section you need out.

ill get a pic up of the boot for you to see later. I considered cutting out the entire boot floot, but there are only little bits to patch. ill give the 1.6mm steel a go :) Will a gasless mig weld the bodywork ok?

Wat welder do you suggest is the best for thin panel work? What is the difference between gasless and gas welders?

You'd probably still manage with gasless, but it'd be much cleaner if you get yourself a Gas Mig set. It uses an inert gas to sheild the weld so you don't get as much spatter and slag, so less work to do afterwards as well.
