Recommended Posts

hi everyone

just a couple of quick questions...

i have a wierd water leak which i cant quite pin point it seems to be coming from behind the engine in the middleish does anyone have any sugestions as to what this coule be leaking? because i just cant seem to find it and i cant get far enough underneth it to get a good look everytime i stop i notice a puddle growing under it.

also would a saxo vts rear beam fit onto my 205? because iv got the chance to bag a bargain if it will.

many thanks. seb

Is it on the engine I take it? If not likely to be a hose or something, maybe from the heater matrix. Hopefully not the dreaded headgasket

I'm pretty sure that the saxo beam will not fit, other people on here may know better.

The ARB a good upgrade though

Had a leak from the end of the plastic water manifold thing that bolts to back of block on mine.

Was leaking from the end cap that screws in

cheers for all the replies theres definatly some good things to have a look for. i tried to have a look today but i wasnt really in the mood for getting to involved so i just topped the water up and thought about it a bit more. i might see if i can get it up on one of the ramps at work tommorow and have a better look at it i think it would help the search a fair bit im really hoping the head isnt cracked though i cant really afford to do any repairs to my lump atm im trying my best to save for a mi16 or sri turbo engine but i suppose it could happen alot sooner if the head is cracked so its not a total loss mine still runs so all is well for now i guess.

ill update you all tommorow with my finds...

dam shame a vts beam doesnt fit they sell for pennies and fit my kind of budget...

which beams will fit? i know a 309 one will but are there any others?

many thanks. seb

seb give me a shout some time this week. what were you doing in that car :S.

the leak appers to be above the exhaust manifold, with no water ways in the head the high it is very strange. pipes look good. really need to get in on a pressure tester.

hows the oil now we redid the breaters??

yeah the oil is fine hasnt lost a drop hardly since its sudden loss a few weeks. its ticking over lovely now and all seems well apart from the water leak i replaced the pipe from the rad to the thermostat housing last week becuase it split i wasnt a happy bunny.

im still seeking a cheap rear beam its not really happening so far but im determind not to spend loads of money just yet. im also starting to look for engines aswell i really like the idea of a turbo but i think its far more practical for me to go for an mi beacuase of the fact its my daily driver.

this is very random but how would a 205 mi16 fair against an 03 civic type r just out of interest?

Funny what your mate says about the Honda CTR, my mate has a Vtec Civic 1.6 (160 bhp and 111ft/lb) and he thinks it will blow my GTI6, absolute b@llocks if you ask me.

Look at the torque figure, I think you only get that at 7800rpm, no midrange grunt whatsoever. And he still doesnt get this into his head... :D
