Someone Another Windscreen Washer Tank Behind The Parafan?

Recommended Posts

Guest Paulus205GTI

Hi everyone,

After a conversion from 1.9 DKZ to 2.0 S16 engine, I want more free space under the bonnet. So I want to remove the windscreen washer tank. Behind the parafan (the black grid under the windscreen) at the passenger side is the new location which I have in mind. The original washer tank will be fit with some creative changes, but maybe someone in the UK has already a tank (from another car or something) who's beter fitting behind the parafan. A tank which is a little bit smaller than the original from a 205 GTI, would be fit better I think.

Does have anybody at this forum a different washer tank behind his parafan?

Every tip is usefull.

ps: I'm from The Netherlands so I hope everybody could understand my translated question

A ncouple of mine have the std tank fitted there, some people use the 309 rear washer bottle next to the header tank, or i know the old skool ford tanks are a very nice square shape and size.

Will you sacrifice the rear washer? reroute the water hose to the front also the wire after the stalk.

I have done mine this way and it works pretty well, it will give you a much bigger room there if you relocate the battery to the boot.

I use a 306 washer pump fitted to the rear washer bottle

It has two outlets and you wont need to sacrifice the rear washer, just run a pipe to the front... and use a simple central lock interface (two 5 pin relays) to reverse the polarity of the pump when needed

Which types of old skool Fords you mean? Escort, Fiesta or something else? And which building year?

Thanks for your tips. I don’t have a rear washer. I’ve removed it. I can’t use the rear washer tank because I need that space for some audio :)

I really need a nice tank for behind the parafan.

Thanks for thinking everybody! I’m looking forward to the best solution.

I think the original fiat pandas had a bag type washer bottle which Ive seen on a few different cars with conversions. Thats another idea for you, to save space and it could be mounted easier in different places too.

Probably a scrapyard tour will give you more idea then. I have seen a lot of Japs car have a washer tank located under the front head lamp with a long filling tube.

Ah, iirc the Mini (first Bimmer version) should have this kind of washer tank.
