Painting/ Preserving Underside

Recommended Posts

What do you people recomend for painting the underside and preventing rust? Ive just ordered some hydrate 80, was thinking of using a primer over this and then im not sure whether to use a stone guard, normal spray or some kind of brush on sealer? Just to add, im not stripping the entire shell of paint and sealer, my motto is if it aint broke don't fix it, just a general tidy up of rust patches and loose paint.

Reading the write ups on Epoxy Mastic121 its sounds the bollox:

http://www.rust.co.uk/home.cfm

Using the epoxy on my Evo and 309.

Also I've just started using the Dinitrol cavity wax, much better than Waxoyl for doing inside panels etc

Its alot thinner and penetrates alot more

Tiger seal is a good PU seam sealer for sealing all the seams/panel joins you find.

If your not stripping it back, stone chip should be fine.

I cleaned my under carriage B) then used White stone chip, in a shultz type sprayer. Layered a couple of coats and it looked great, pics in my build thread.

If you were going to strip it right back, then I'd maybe consider something more specialised.
