vickiw106 1 Posted June 21, 2009 what spec are you running now? i am currently running 206 1.6 16 valve calipers with 266mm discs. i do have drums on the back but i going to swap for disc setup. thanks ian
welshpug 1,628 Posted June 21, 2009 what about the rest of the car? wouldn't bother with discs at the back for rallying, handbrake is far better on drums. budget is also important here, I service for a few 205 rally cars, the standard engined 1.6 runs standard 1.6 calipers with yellowstuff pads and race fluid, no issues at all the other has Bremsport 28-something belled discs and 4 pot calipers, but are under 15" wheels, hawk black pads, race fluid and a pedal box. another car is running standard 1.9 calipers and discs, not sure what pads he has, again, race fluid. andychalmers 0 Posted June 22, 2009 The only 4 pots Im aware of that fit under 14" wheels are Hi-spec ones (they will actually fit under 13"), they use a 285mm disk I think. 1600 & 1900 disk setup are fine for rally use as long as you use something like Mintex 1155 pads. drums on the back are better than disks but are a pain to service every rally, disks are fine but crap handbrake so fit a long vertical one. welshpug 1,628 Posted June 22, 2009 (edited) there's more than just Hi spec that'll fit under there, IIRC peugeot sport themselves had setup for the 106 made by AP, I know that Wilwoods definitely fit under a 106 14" steel. welshpug 1,628 Posted June 22, 2009 that's the buggers I had in mind! another RR member has 270mm Wilwoods under standard rallye steel wheels.
GTI6BOY 29 Posted June 22, 2009 the largest brake set up hi-spec can get under a rallye wheel is 260mm
welshpug 1,628 Posted June 22, 2009 that's amusing when a stock pug caliper uses a 266mm like they already have fitted, and that wilwoods and AP can take 10mm more! well 5mm..
kyepan 291 Posted June 22, 2009 was gonna say ap would proably do something!

Jer309GTi 3 Posted July 1, 2009 Very slightly off-topic, but do 306 xsi 266mm brakes fit under a 106 rallye steel does anyone know?
sussex_gti 0 Posted July 2, 2009 Yes, had them on my 106 xsi with Rallye steels. Were brilliant brakes.
Nathan_marriott 0 Posted July 4, 2009 (edited) On my rally car ive got alcon 4 pots on 288ish (?? cant remember as its been while since ive used it been doing too many events in the MKII Escort!) They fit under peugeot 14" wheels but they have to be the GTX ones as they have more clearance in the wheel. see pic. (just) The Pug 106 AP ones fit under 14"s but think that they two have to be either Compomotive or GTX...... I would personally change to a different pad materiel and see how you get on. I used to have 1.9 Calipers on my old car and worked well and they also didnt have those silly retaining plates that hold the pads in, that i used to wire lock in.......made a mess on my mates car when one came out....... Use Mintex 1155 generally. On the 4 pots ive got DS3000 as they came with them and mintex 1155's as spare set. in the back ive got 1144's on discs.......
