Turning A Bolt-in Cage....

Recommended Posts

Alan_M

My 205 is currently getting the drivers seat mounts lowered and I am pondering whether to have mods done to the cage at the same time. The cage is a 6 point Safety Devices with removable rear section.

Mods I am considering are a harness bar, and extra tie in points on the B pillar, the roofline and possibly the A pillars. I am also thinking about having the flanges welded too. Obviously this will make the cage permanent.

Has anybody got any tips on this, for example what thickness material should be used on the tie in points?

You should use 2mm at least. If you don't want to make the cage permanent then you can weld some tabs to the cage and shell and then bolt them together. I know a fair few people do this to get around regulations and it works nicely.

Mine has some of the above bits done, It's for plates welded in to the B pillars and down the A pillars, I'll measure up the plate thickness tomorrow for you :)

Thanks...

It's the cage feet that I am deliberating over. One of the nuts tacked onto the back of the mounting plate has come off, hence only 2 bolts holding the drivers side B pillar cage foot. Easiest option to rectify this is to weld the feet down but I am unsure if this is OK to do?
