tombo 0 Posted June 18, 2009 well time for an update, i removed the engine and inspected the damage lol i found treasure in the sump dont think this is meant to be bent so i cleaned up the bay ready for the new heart then painted the new engine up and then the inlet, its starting to get there now will hopefully have more updates later today

tombo 0 Posted June 18, 2009 well i have done more work with it and painted up few items before insralling the engine back into the car, here are the pics. gearbox painted ready to go in. rocker cover painted in panther black metalic, not going on until the engine is finished dont want to mark it (thanks discostu ) managed to get the engine and box back into the painted engine pay i have to say doing this all alone with no engine hoist has been a right pain in the ass. engine coming along and feeling very productive lol slim line fan now fitted back to the rad after a lick of paint to spruce it back up. will hopefully have it running soon, as im waiting on parts, some new pipes, and an oil temp sensor from a late 205gti to suit the baffled gti6 sump that i fitted to this new engine. tombo 0 Posted July 12, 2009 little Update: progress with this has been slow and steady on its maiden voyage from the missus house, bringing it back to mine, car was driving great however the clutch cable snapped so she was on the back of a trailor. after replacing almost every hose, speedo drive cable, throttle cable i questioned my head to why did i not change the clutch cable why i were at it. so i changed the cable and went to drive the car, to my suprise the car had miraculously developed a fuel leak from the injectors so instead of replacing the seals on the leaking injector i thought i may aswel do all of them. only a few electrical problems now to sort like the front indicatos on the passenger side and getting the oil temp to work on the dash. does anyone know if the signal for the oil temp gauge is sent from the snesor in the sump or one of the sensors in the block? thanks tom
GLPoomobile 958 Posted July 12, 2009 Oil temp is from the sensor in the sump. Don't get your injector seals from Pug. Bloody rip off merchants!
