Handbrake Light Flashing?

Recommended Posts

johnnyboy666

the light on the dash (xs dash) that normally comes on with the handbrake has started to come on randomly. it seems to have started around the same time as i went over a very large pothole and has continued since. any ideas on whats happened? i tried wiggling and yanking the handbrake in various styles but it doesnt seem to affect it. it also works properly when the handbrake is on.

you'll be low on brake fluid, top it up and see if that solves it

If that does not sort it its prob a bad connection/knackered switch/loose wire by the handbrake lever.

The way it works is to switch the earth side of circuit to light,so if wire is loose/damaged etc and earthing out the light will flicker/come on etc

If it is low brake fluid, probably worth finding out why it's low!! My xs started using brake fluid, turns out it was the rear cylinders, one had gotten so bad it was spraying the inside of my tyre in brake fluid, not good!

well i topped the fluid up and its sorted the light, it seems i have tiny weeny leak at one of the front bleed nips. ive got new ones to go on i just hadnt got round to it, i think it was a little sign to tell me to get my finger out my arse and stop buying parts and forgetting to fit them!

I thought it was fairly standard practice to buy parts for 205s and then not fit them! I've had a set of door hinges for the xs sat on my bedside cabinet (yes I sleep with 205 parts next to my bed..... ) for about a year now......
