35 Or 36mm Socket For A 1.9 Hub Nut?

Recommended Posts

wildejon

I went out and bought a 36mm socket thinking it was the right size but it is pretty loose, should I be using 35mm?

I measured the nuts and they were 35.2mm so now I'm confused, the old 1.6 ones I had were 29.8 and 31.8, which made more sense to me.

Thanks!

I've found both sizes before, the ones on my current car are 35mm though.

Iirc it's supposed to be 35, but i like Tom have found differences, i don't think i have a 35mm socket thinking about it, so i must use a 36!

3/4" Socket set is a massive help with hubnuts i might add though!

I don't have a 3/4 breaker bar

Seems to be OK with the 1/2 inch so far, never broken anything! Well, apart from my back nearly I guess...

I actually broke my 1/2" breaker bar a couple of weeks ago trying to undo a hub nut  Wen't out and bought a 3/4" one and it's been fine.

I've seen lots of cheaper 1/2" bars break doing hub nuts, either just after the square drive, or at the hinge. Plus being able to lean harder on a 3/4 one makes it effortless next to jumping up and down on a 1/2 one!

OK, OK

Next time I find myself not skint for a day or two I'll pop out and get one :P
