Will 2k Paint Dry Without Hardner?

Recommended Posts

Rob Turbo

I spilled some 2k paint in my boot, I soaked a small ammount of it up then decided to just brush it around, the whole shell is being sprayed (with this paint) in the near future and I'm not bothered about the finish inside the car in the least, so brushed around the boot is fine with me, if it will dry that is!

It wasn't mixed with hardner at the time, I just knocked the open tin and some slopped over the edge, so will it dry, just take a bit longer, or am I gonna have to clean it all off with thinners?

Thanks,

Rob

It'll dry okay - no problem.

Well after leaving it overnight some of the thin patches seem to have dried, the rest seems to have a dry skin that's still soft underneath, then there's some other patches that are still wet, I'll crack on prepping the shell for spraying hopefuly next weekend, and check it then, if it's still soft in places after a week I'll set about cleaning it all off!

Sorry Rob, I've just re read your post (properly this time :P ). Must stop speed reading - I obvoiusly can't do it.

It will never go off without the hardener in so, you'll have to remove it with thinners before painting.

Apologies.

Bugger! Better get some cheap thinners to chuck around the boot then!! While I'm at it it'll try some thinners on the glue left behind from the carpet stuff that was stuck to the rear inner arches.

Thanks,

Rob

I do mean the carpet off the inner arches but it didn't come off in one piece, it has no backing like a "proper" carpet so I doubt it would be possible to remove it without f***ing it!

I think acoustic carpet is the same type of stuff, not too dear off ebay.
