Ebc Pads/disks

Recommended Posts

Do many people use the Ebc pads or brake disks. Reason i ask is i have a friend that should be able to supply some at a discounted rate.

If you read about on various car forums (over different marques) it seems there is a lot of differing opinion. Personally I've tried them (supposed uprated pads)and was not impressed. Mintex or Ferodo on the other hand I've always been very impressed with.

no problem thanks mate, i was going to go with a brembo/mintex mix myself , but thought about going for the ebc stuff.

I had EBC on for not longer than a week and changed back to Ferodo.

I use EBC Yellowstuff and ebc disks all round on my 306....i find them really good...not up to Ferrodo DS3000 or Mintex F series but at the money i pay for them i can't fault them.

I wouldn't consider using them again in my stage rally car...they are not quite up to the job....but value for money.

I wouldn't bother with green or reds...just use yellows everytime

Ive used the yellows and found them efficient enough especially for the price,

i wouldnt put them in the same league as mintex or ferodo though.

Id say it depends what theyre going to be used on and for what purpose?

Track/sprints gotta be the Mintex/Ferrodo

Road use/ocassional track the Ebc should be fine..

just got back from castle Combe with turbo grove disks and yellow stuff pads, cant fault them, didnt cook them, and can be used from cold, though they lack a slight bit of bite when on the road driving like a grandad!!

same here, I have yellows in the fronts and they're very good when up to temp. On the road they're fine to.

i had a few sets of Greens in the (std) 205 and quite liked them, especially for the money

got Reds in the Clio172, and they're stronger than Greens, but alarmingly poor from cold - wish i'd put Yellows in instead (haven't tried Yellows yet)

from some of the stuff i've read elsewhere about different people's experiences of EBC pads, a few have made the suggestion that they're perhaps not all that tolerant of prolonged braking styles - you might not have any bother if you tend to use them late/hard (ie. briefly) on track

I had EBC Turbogroove rear discs and green stuff pads all round, personally i thought they were SH*TE!

Brake fade after braking for the shortest time, and the pads were really juddery even with 2 anti rattle clips fitted (per pad lol).

Mintex pads on standard discs I would highly recommend

I had EBC Turbo grooved / dimpled discs on my FTO beforehand with red stuff pads. Result? Not very good at all. My standard 205 1.9 braking setup with standard parts was miles better. After a year the discs were bad and had to be chucked. I now have 3G discs with new redstuffs and again the brakes are pathetic. I can only assume redstuffs are pants.

By contrast I now have GTi6 calipers and standard discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads on my 205 and they are awesome (previously had standard discs and pads on my GTi6 setup which were very good too).

Forget their discs but the Yellowstuff pads are fine and easy to modulate. No dust either.

I had a set of gti6 turbo-groove discs on green stuff pads on mine. Although the brakes seemed to be a little sharper than the standard, it wasnt much, and certainly not enough to excuse the fact that in just over 2 years the discs rusted up so badly in the grooves and holes that the rust stood out further than the disc surface, and reduced my braking efficiency to that of a 2CV thats just driven through a puddle of diesel. It safe to say I wasnt best pleased.

I use standard discs on green stuff pads from now on.
