Recommended Posts

Must apologise if this has been covered all ready but i did a search and came up dry!

What torque setting should i tighten my Grayston Revolution Sleeve Nuts on Grayston M12 x 1.5mm Studs?!

For race use not everyday driving if that makes a difference?!

Many thanx

I always just did mine up to normal torque settings, about 75-80 lb / 110-120 Nm, never had any problems

75-80 lb is a fair bit over the standard 63lbft!

I'd check with your wheel manufacturer if they aren't standard fit wheels.

I do mine to 70lbft & have yet to have one fail or strip.

It does say 63lbft in the Haynes but I'm sure I'd seen it changed to ~70lbft but can't find it just now after a quick look.

Graham.

63 is a bit too low IMO. I used to do them 70 but always twisted the handle to 77 when I switched wrenchs so just carried on, it's well within the capabilities of the studs/bolts.

Wheel manufacturers won't give a crap what torque you do them up to, do you phone them up when you swap wheels?

no, because I don't use aftermarket wheels on any of my cars, and hence always do them to the 63lbft/85Nm

So you've never had a wheel company laugh down the phone at such a silly question then? :blush:whistlingb.gif

B)

Not specifically to ask that no, but I have 'checked', for want of a better word, and unsurprisingly it was regarded as a bit of a dumb question. Alright?
