Trouble With Flexi Brake Lines *fao Of Miles Also*

Recommended Posts

djinuk

Im using a front set of braided flexi brake lines on my 205 that look op quality purchased from miles on there. Only thing that concerns me is that the copper brake lines dont seem to screw very far into them (about 2.5 3 turns maybe) I can take a photo but there just seems to be an aweful lot of threads remaining, and if i do them up any tighter is just strips the threads front the male ends of the copper brake lines. Any ideas or is this correct.

sounds like you may have the wrong male end on the solid line, a picture will help <_<

sorry about wrong sectiion...

ah possibly, i used the smallest die size i have in the kit, 1/8 rings a bell, and it seems to have worked on all the other ends but possibly, it would make sence., or maybe im just leaving a little to much copper line to be compressed and the flare is to fat? is that possible.?

And why is that :s, I am not saying there is anything wrong with the product simply thought miles may wish to take a look incase hes aware of anything in particular when using these lines. Certainly no dig at the product though and im sure other users may be able to help rather than hindering miles at every turn simply because the topic contains his product.

Hope that clears up issues before anybody believe im slating the product as ive had a few bits off miles and they have all been to standard and delivered quickly.

A simple phonecall would most likely solve the issue in minutes when you have as much experience as Miles <_<

the last photos showing the hard pipe connected to the flexi is done up tight, any tighter and it just pulls the threads off the m10 male end.

Take the flexi off the mount and try and do it up again.

Might sound daft but are you sure they are m10 and you have not been supplied 3/8th ones instead?? They look like the right style of male fittings.

thats how ive done them up, to ensure they dont cross thread..

well these same fitting went into the master cylinder etc fine so im presuming they are the correct fittings.

3/8" male fittings screw into M10 females anyway - they'll just be a loose fit (M10 males wont screw into 3/8 females though)

im pritty sure u should have threads showing, as the fittings seal on the concave/convex parts so have to bottom out to seal.

as for what type of thread they are.. metric ones are usually identified by lines going round the nut.

Try screwing a male union into the flexi without the rigid pipe in place and see how many threads are showing, at least this will tell you if your flares are too big (they look fine to me in the photo)
