Intermittent Charging Problem

Recommended Posts

JimLad

The battery wasn't charging and while trying to limp home it started charging again. From my searches I'm thinking this could be related to the brown multiplug of doom!

Also, the charging light on the dash doesn't work at all, regardless of whether it charges or not. Could this also be related to the plug?

Bit confused about where this is though. Is there one in the engine bay and one under the dash or does it depend on the year of the car?

the offending plug is always ion the engine bay, and its presence does depend on the age of the car as well, early car's don't have them, neither do later cars :(

your lack of battery charge light would suggest that the excitor wire isn't plugged onto the alternator, or you have a broken/corroded wire/brown plug connection.

in a standard engine bay, it's found under the AFM.
