Front Pad Worn Far More Than The Others.

Recommended Posts

Driving the little XL yesterday to start hearing grinding when braking. Whipped off the front pads this morning to find on the right-hand wheel the other pad had worn down to the bone (hence the noise), whereas the inner pad still had 5mm on it. The left-hand wheel's pad both had about 8-10mm on them. What could cause such uneven wear on the pads? The calipers seemed to be moving OK, and I certainly had no problem fitting the new pads.

Braking firmly from high speed usually gives out a lot of juddering, so could this have something to do with it?

Did you check that the caliper is sliding ok on the two long bolts (forgotten what theyre called)? if these are worn/seized it could end up holding one of the pads against the disc.

Yes, it seemed to be sliding fine, although one of the rubber seals around the sliding bolt was a bit loose.
