To Cut Or Not To Cut?

Recommended Posts

My car looks like this:

So I might rob the springs off the 309 on the right of the picture:

If its too low on the 309 springs and the wheel catches the arch, is it recommended to chop coils ie the standard higher ones?

If not what are my options?

I doubt anyone on here would recommend cutting the coils down. Just get some -20 or -30 lowering springs, there plenty knocking about I'd have thought.

Do not do it, the springs won't sit properly.

Don't forget the 205 is lighter so it will sit higher on the 309 springs anyway

Cutting springs is something that gets a bad name from people who do it badly. If you do a good job then there's nothing wrong with it.

Don't use a cutting torch - the heat will ruin the springs.

Finish the cut ends off properly - grind them flat just like the original so that it sits in the spring pan properly.

if you cut them, your supposed to clamp them to the struts top and bottom to prevent them being dislodged when say you hit a bump or jack the car up etc, or if your after some really low springs i have a spare set that drop it by 50-60mm going spare ;)
