Play In Front Wheel

have noticed a strange rubbing noise coming from the front drivers side wheel under cornering.

sounds like the brakes catching. jacked the car up and gave the wheel a wobble and there is some play in it.

i would of normally put this down to a collapsed wheel bearing but as it only had a new one on it 4k miles ago

i dont think it can be this. any other ideas?

The hub nut is tight isn't it? That's all that clamps the hub/bearing together, and it will work its way loose if the hubnut is loose...

 

Also, never rule out something as being faulty whether its new or not - easy for something to fail in short order if it's poor quality, incorrectly fitted, or merely the symptom rather than root cause of an issue.
