205 Gti6 Running 'rich'

Looking for some advice regarding my stage car - went down the route of the gti6 conversion last year - up until recently its been fantastic, tho now its it seems to be running quite rich - spark plugs are quite sooted even after a long spin, coupled with this when its cold it sounds extremely lumpy. Edging towards one of the sensors is playing up? Don't think it will be the lambda sensor - renewed that when i put the engine in. Any help would be most grateful!!

ecu coolant temperature sensor would give you the problems that your experiencing now. but, i wouldnt rule the lambda sensor out, even if you did replace it last year. was it a cheap pattern part or a genuine pug / ngk part?

Done the resistance check on the ecu coolant sensor - seems to be working ok. Took out the lambda sensor just to check and it sounds like a rattle!!? Cant be good so new one on order - its only done about 8 rally's - i hope its not gonna turn out to be an annual buy!!

Thanks for the help Mike.
