No Threads Left In Ally Caliper

Recommended Posts

Need some advice, its for a 4 pot caliper, lightweight ally. The threads have came out of the caliper for the brake line in. Any ideas on how best to fix it? Helicoils are stupid prices in kits as its 10mm x 1mm thread size. Could I try tapping out and making a small adapter hose up with a larger thread one end for the caliper and a female end the other in original size? I dont want to take too many risks as it would mean game over for the caliper.

if it was mine, i'd take it to an engineering place and see what they can do.

I know what you mean about 'helicoil' kits, they are quite expensive and easy to make mistakes which can write off the caliper

Personally I'd helicoil it and be done, but up to you.
