Fuel Pump Sudden Failure

Been messing with the looms accross the dash of my car. Now its all reconnected tried to start the car and nothing! Turns over but wont fire up. Keeps coughing and running for a second or two. Anyway checking fuel pump supply voltage and seems ok but when bridging the relay to check fuel pump theres a click but no running sound, I'm sure it used to make a constant vibrating sound. Does this sound like the cause to you guys? If so could anything I've done loom wise have caused this or is it just coincidence.
