I've heard its not possible, you have to put it in place before the engine goes in and visa versa...

Surely it's possible, you may have to drop the subframe off?

Yeah, that's my thought so far too. Just thought I'd seek some advice first.

i've not tried it but i'm pretty sure its not possible unless the subframe is removed.

I'm eager to here is its possible as its the only thing stopping me re-angling the manifold.

I done a head on one buts left the manifold in situ and the whole thing was a nightmare. I deffo dont think its possible by just undoing a mount and twisting it!

The manifold will not come out of the top of the engine compartment without taking the head off.

Two ways to do it. Subframe off.....

Or, pull the shafts out, undo gearbox mount and rear engine mount, suspend the engine on a crane, remove upright from gearbox, remove rad, swing engine as far forward as possible. Manifold will come out but mm to spare. Easiest way is to take the subframe off.

Also not done it. But dropping the sub frame sounds like the only bet other than removing the engine! Them 6 manifolds are surprisingly big!

Another vote for removing the subframe, looks like there's plenty of room.

e=id say the subframe has to be at least dropped

thats what you have to do when doing one on a 306
