Uprated Torsion Bars And Handling

Recommended Posts

In what way does uprated rear torsion bars change the handling of a 205?

Iv always felt the the standard bars are slightly to soft,

Thinking of using ZX rear arms with either 21 or 22 torsion bars, The car will be used for road rallys and maybe the odd tarmac event.

Just by stiffening the rear, it does seem to become more twitchy and oversteer happy. Its a personal thing though, some like it like this some don't. Depends if it suits your driving style

I have searched.

Would a 21 or 22mm torsion bar be to stiff for the bumpy lanes than?

For bumpy lanes standard or 20mm max would be my choice.

21 or 22mm would be better suited to smooth tarmac events.

The main choice should be made in relation to the front springs to get the best match overall.

Graham.

if its bumpy lanes use un uprated bar of your choice but don't lower the car. Mine has standard bars and is lowered and over bumps it bottoms out a quite a slow pace.

have fun road rallying

O.k thanks,Standerd bars are 19mm if i remember right?

You dont think 21 or 22mm bars would be to stiff then? im planing to use proflex 3 ways on the rear aswell if funds allow me.

I think my front springs are 180lbish that were on my old set up, building new car so that might all change.

Don't go much further than 21's.

Proflex makes all the difference though

The 180's on the front will be fine.

the rest is all about ride height , dependent on how bumpy the lanes are around your way .

Better start looking for some 21mm bars then,Bet thay are hard to find aswell.

Heard lots of people say proflex 3 way adj are very good on the back of 205 s so if i got the funds i will get some.
