Creaky Steering

Recommended Posts

I've got creaky steering, I turn the wheel and the steering creaks like a big wooden door in a horror film, :)

It's a non-assisted rack, anyone got any ideas?

cheers Claypole.

Could be a number of things. You need a mate to lisen while you turn the wheel so you can pin point the noise. could be a worn bush, dry uj in the steering collum, rust in the TRE or the lower ball joint or something rubbung on a moving steering part.

Check all the above. I had this with mine and couldn't work it out, even going as far as swapping the strut top bearings. Turned out the droplinks were dry, despite being fairly new. You could only tell it was them when you put your hand on the link and felt the vibration as a mate turned the wheel!

Frustrating to say the least, but an easy fix! :)
