Recommended Posts

Is it worth to buy this ecu cause there´s a newer version?

I can get a bargain, but i´ll ask some pro´s here before i buy it

Also i surely need somebody here who´s got a map for a mi16.

Plenty of maps around. It depends how much of a bargain the M3d is?

Well, the auction has still 2 days :) But i think it will be a lot cheaper than buying a new one :P

How old is it? The newer ones can be upgraded to the K3 for about £30

And a K3 can be bought for less than the RRP :)

You really need the serial Number not the age to find out if its compatible for the K3 upgrade.

With that you can find if it compatible for an upgrade.

Off Emeralds website

M3DK to K3 (serial number 41272 or higher only) - £30

41548 is the serial number, so it should be compatible for a upgrade?! So i have to send the m3d to emerald to get it upgrated?!

Yes, and it's more like £50-60 in the Uk with VAT and shipping etc.

The new ones come with the ecu with a base map of your choice, an ecu plug, manual, comms lead, driver disc etc. A flying loom is an option.

Be aware that the driver disc is a floppy (why!!?) and most laptops made after the industrial revolution don't have a drive. I had a massive faff to find a computer that had one and then email it to myself to burn it onto a CD. :D

question is, does it really need to be upgraded to run a relatively simple Mi16?

Notr really no, depends whether you want to take advantage of more functions etc...

Well, as you might know, i run the mi16 with the inlet from the gti6 incl. the throttle body, so there´s a poti and no postion switch and of course i don´t want to mount the afm later

What means a flying loom?

The car is making me ill now through it run´s like sh*t. i have to save money to buy a pair of throttle bodies like jenvey or similiar

Everything else is already new, exhaust system 2,5 inch diameter with 4-1 exhaust manifold, new bosch ford racing injectors, new coil, new plugs, head is skimmed, timing should be right by using cam pulley from d6c mi16, new brakes in front and back, a new caliper in the back, new wheels, and and and

But what is it worth when the car doesn´t runs like it should do???

I'm not suprised it runs like s*it as it has a complete mis match of bits. Inlet manifold and throttle body different to what the ECU is set up for, injectors that could be massively under or overfuelling.

I would go for it, can't beat proper mappable management to get the best out of pretty much any setup.

Well i go for it, the only way to get clear with the parts and get the best out of it

What means such a flying loom? Because the loom i´ll get is made for a VW Polo and i haven´t seen it yet so i don´t know if it´s messed

Flying loom is just a few wires 'flying' out from the ecu plug...
