Sunroof Removal

I've removed my sunroof but was wondering if everyone else removes the strengthening plates from the inside also. The ones that the rivnuts are fitted through?

 

Does removing these make the roof drum?

Yep, remove it. The roof should regain its strength once you get the blanking panel in.
