Valve Cover Painting

Recommended Posts

Matteo

Hello, just a silly question. I am going to paint in glossy black color the valve cover (XU9JA). Have I to use a special paint for high temperature or will a common paint do the work?

Many thanks.

Take into consideration to use some acid etch primer first.

I painted my rocker cover in hammerite smooth red and thats faired ok. B)

I was thinking about washing it with polyuretanic thinner (degreasing), dry it well and then spray it with a common acrylic glossy black paint.

Have I to use a special paint for high temperature?

Well i wouldnt have thought so as my rocker cover has faired well.

The rocker cover is alloy/aluminium so use an acid etch primer first otherwise the paint won't stick, (it will initially, but then will flake off easily).

You don't have to use a special paint, normal paint will do, but thats your choice.

I made the job  . It seems nice. I warmed it after painting and it seems ok.

Looks good, but unless you put that etch primer on it, it won't look like that in a couple of months use.

Usually I am rather touchy.

I bought and used a primer for alluminium alloy.

Mark, thank' s for your advice.
