Oil Temp Thingy...

Recommended Posts

Can someone confirm for me that the plug (and wire that goes into it) on the back of the sump 3/4 or so to the drivers side is indeed for the oil temp gauge?

Faffing about replacing a hose I noticed this wire wasn't well protected and while trying to cover in electricians tape, I've gone and pulled it from the wire housing on the plug.

Car is a '88 1.9 GTi.

Can someone confirm my car wont burst into flames and kill me next time I drive it.

Cheers :)

Yes, the sensor on the back of the sump is the oil temp one :)

However, given that it's French, I can't promise that it won't spontaneously burst into flames. Sorry.

Hopefully not. I've popped the wire back in but it probably needs re crimping onto a fresh connection.

As long as theres no sparks, as the sump is kinda socked in oil currently thanks to a cracked oil filler pipe! :)

Cheers, you're a legend!
