Couple Of Questions About Crunching Sounds

Recommended Posts

lemmingzappa

Firstly my clutch pedal has started to feel "crunchy"/stiff...when I press it down it feels rough.

And when I press the brake pedal and listen out the window, I can hear the front brakes making springy sounds (almost as if a spring is getting old and rusty).

What's this all about ?

Sounds like you need to spend some time, greasing and cleaning bits. How high is the clutch pedal before it bights?? Also when is the last time you serviced the brakes?

I couldnt tell you about the height of the clutch pedal yet, but I will confirm tommorow.

And I havent serviced the brakes yet as i've only had the car for a couple of weeks, it was the next thing on my 'to do' list.

Just out of interest, which bits exactly need greasing and cleaning? And what is involved in "servicing" the brakes?

I have similar brake graunches and clunks that I would like to eliminate. I put it down to worn 1.6 caliper guide pins. Is this most likely?

If they are 1600 calipers then the bets are that the slides are bent and making that horrible noise. I still have to do mine
