humanz 3 Posted February 7, 2009 My boot light isn't coming on. I've already replaced the bulb, but it still doesn't light. Was wondering if the switch itself needs replacing, as I've got a spare boot (hopefully it has a switch in it). So where is the switch located. I can identify the wiper motor and the wiper relay, but I don't see anything else that strikes me as a switch.
Mikey S 29 1 Cars Posted February 7, 2009 its a tilt switch. looks like a bullet, white, about an inch and a half long, screwed to the bootlid by the relay for the rear wiper. mike

mogsman 2 Posted February 8, 2009 I took the bulb ouy of mine as the switch can stick. I only found out after the battery kept draining. I might fix it one day, but it happened about six years ago! Ian
GLPoomobile 958 Posted February 8, 2009 If the tilt switch sticks or does not work at all, it would be easy to fit a common contact switch like you have in the front door A pillars, or like alarm systems use under the boot. I had a Toad alarm installed on my first GTI that had one of these fitted to the slanted part of plastic trim where it met the tailgate.
