Converting To Pas,is There An Idiots Guide?!

Recommended Posts

AJPMIKE

I'd like to fit pas to my early '89 1.9 gti and really need tp know what are all the parts i need, and how/where they fit in and around my engine bay.I imagine this has been done many times, but is there a good source of reference for this conversion? The only 205 i've ever seen under the bonnet of,is my own,so a list of parts and some pics and guidance is much needed.Cheers in advance,Mike

Check out the guide on the main site.

Anco you hhave all the parts if you run into trouble or cant see how it goes then give me a shout, I could pop round and you could have a look at mine as i'm always in and around Gloucestershire.

Cheers guys  ,and thanks for the offer goliath,i'll keep that in mind B)

Do i have to get parts specifically from a 1.9 205,or are 1.6 exactly the same?I see the author mentions modding a 309 rack, but was assuming all 205 bits are the same?

Hi Mike,

Found a few pics of when I installed PAS, Mine came from a 309 GTI

Take care when sorting where you put the filler tank as it gets a bit congested, I just adapted the existing brackets and fixed them onto the battery holder

Hope that helps, any problems give me shout,

Lovely job, thanks very much for the clear pics,i really appreciate it.It's nice to see where the pump actually lives. Off topic i know, but i didn't realise some cars had coil packs instead of dizzys?

Some of the later cars had it I think, but I've got the ECU, inlet manifold, coil pack etc from a zx volcane to change it to Motronic injection rather than Jetronic, gets rid of all the idling issues and works really well

After a bit of a delay to this project,i have finally managed to get all the bit's together for this conversion.I wonder if someone could help me by telling me how the high pressure pipewok is mounted?Does it clip into fixings on the rack or something?I dont have another car with pas to use as a guide, and the haynes manual isn't much cop!I'd rather start out knowing where everything goes and how it fits, which would surely save a lot of time and hassle.Any help, especially pics, would be very much appreciated as i couldnt see any pics on the guide on the main site.Cheers,Mike

Ive got round todoing the rest of the conversion, but stumbled on the fitting of the rack. The splines here are different sizes. What do I need to convert to make this fit? Does anyone have the part? I heard the sline size and shape was changed about 4 times. Oh and where the hell does this high pressure hose fit?

You need a shorter uj to fiit on the pas rack, the high pressure hose iirc runs from the pump, under the inlet, metal pipe, along side the thermostat and down to the rack.

Went to Peugeot yesterday about the joint change and they didnt seem to know which one i needed. I took the old joint to them and showed them but they said without the rack they couldnt identify which joint I needed. They printed out some pics and apparently the splined joints are different lengths PAS and non-PAS. I dont know if it was the top joint or the bottom and neither did the parts guy. One is 45mm and the other is 55mm. Can anyone identify my rack (in above pics) so I know which one to buy? I think one was £70 from pug and the other was £135. Ive got the engine out at the mo for a rebuild and I want to get this sorted before it all goes back in!!!! Help!!! I can post more pics if necessary, unless anyone knows if there is some ident on the rack itself. cheers

As i mentioned above you need the shorter uj, i can only imagine they do two lengths, pas and non pas so i guess you'd need the 45mm?? No point in spending that amount at Pug though, just get a second hand one!!
