306 Gti6 Gear Ratios

As title suggests does any one know the rations in the gti6 box?

The numbers I've got (which I've not verified, so treat them with a pinch of salt):

 

1st = 2.92

2nd = 1.87

3rd = 1.41

4th = 1.15

5th = 0.96

6th = 0.80

 

Final drive = 4.05

took me a white to dig it out, but the 4.05 F/D isn't always right, its 3.95 too

That's going to be roughly around the time they went from Phase 1 to Phase 2, isn't it? Wonder if they shortened the gearing to compensate for the (I assume) increased weight of the Phase 2 models?

yep that's about right there, also co-insides with a lower rev limit I've read (7450 earlier 7250 later)

 

as for why I've no idea, but you could be right on the weight, though the lighter Rallye shared the later gear ratio's.
