[car_upgrade] 205 Gti Goes To Mi16 Rally Car

Recommended Posts

werf

In August 2008, I bought a Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 ‘87. The machine costs $ 2500, it was too big price for it, but in Russia are very few 205's, therefore, did not have to choose. Here's how it looked after the purchase:

I had planned to install the engine Mi16 and prepare the car to participate in the rally. I decided to do everything themselves, not of saving money, but to get the pleasure of creation and to acquire new skills. This is my first experience in the construction of the car, I hope it will be successful.

Welcome onboard the board Werf. B)

Looks like a proper project - what condition are the inner wings in and the boot floor?

Do you have access to new parts (trim etc) via Peugeot in Russia?

In November 2008, I found a motor Mi16 with wiring, injectors, gearbox, starter and the flow meter of the Peugeot 405. It was a model XU9J4Z (DFW) 147 hp. This set cost me $ 625.

On the Forum fans Peugeot 205 (Kiev, Ukraine), I found and bought a 4 disc from 1.6 GTI, they are similar to those that were on the T16, so I plan to use them, despite a small radius of 14 inches.

Thanks, Maturin!

Wings and loading docks in a satisfactory condition, but there is a rust through in the lower corners of the rear doors, on the border of the wings and the threshold - it is 3-5 cm diameter hole. Also, there is a rust through on splasher on the front right wheel which is in the salon. The car was hit in the right front, while the repair was replaced a longeron, it is the place of welding that need attention. Photos of rusty places I'll show later.

Yes, in Russia, it is possible to easily order new parts for the Peugeot 205.

In December 2008, I began to strip the body, to restore it. I removed the engine of the car. It took me only two days, but have stretched to two weeks - I visited Tamagotchi only on Saturdays. The engine I remove their own, without the use of lifts. Here's how I did:

1. Old tires are put under the engine, put boards on top of them.

2. Removed from the car the front suspension.

3. Put the car engine on a stand of tires and planks.

4. Unscrew the three fixing the engine.

5. Lift the front of the car.

6. Removed the engine from the vehicle.

I tentatively unscrew underframe, but it turned out, that could do without this, engine is easily removed from the bottom.

Sorry, but photos of the retrieval engine are missing, there was no free hand to take pictures.

Blimey! A Russian. :o HOW COOL!!!

Welcome to the forum.

That phase I looks like it needs a lot of work, but it's in safe hands.

Your English is outstanding, especially saying 'loading dock' instead of boot. You talk proper.

I've always wanted to go to Russia................ B)

If you're thinking of refurbishing the Mi engine before installation, you could install the D6C pistons to get 10.4:1 and another 13bhp or so. I think that's the only requirement, unless the ECU is different?

We're always glad to help if we can. In fact could you post a link to the 205 GTI forum/website in Russia so I can have a nose please at what you guys get up to?

Good luck, and we're all watching.

Damn it! That sounds like we're spying. Damn...I said 'spy'!!!

Thank you, DrSarty!

Yes, I am Russian, and my English is at a high level, I am sorry, very high!
<_<

Works a lot. And I have a lot of questions. I hope I can find support in the face of the participants of the forum to answer questions.

And you add another question to the existing. D6C. This is a 160 hp. Is it enough simply to install pistons of the engine? My ECU - Motronic 1.3 with a catalyst.

Piston of D6C worth $ 2000. And find some used in Russia is difficult.

You said a spy? I must inform about a group of spies in the KGB!

great work! you've got to admire people doing such work in countries where it's difficult

and expensive finding cars and parts. i know that very well, living in such country <_<.

you can get a set of good used D6C pistons cheaply from the UK, instead of new ones.

search the forum for petert camshafts and ECU chips for some ideas too .

Two weeks ago, I removed all the wiring of the cabin, withdrew heater and dashboard. I do not know that I will do when it will be necessary to install wiring back.

I have a question. Can I replace the heater is something that is less? Probably not even the radiator itself, but the fan, which gives the air outside.

Overcome the difficulty is very interesting! The feeling of having a rare car, I can not describe! In Russia, the unique Peugeot 205 is very great! Everyone knows about the Peugeot, everybody wants it, and I do have one!
:D

I will try to search the forum, I hope there will be drug dealers who will be able to send details to Moscow.
:D

Removed all the wiring from engine bay. Removed the brake cylinder and pedal unit, the expansion tanks, mounting, cables, and a lot of dirt.

Help me pull the windshield. How to remove the seal? Is it possible to use it again or it will be necessary to purchase new one?

yes, there are electric window demister and interior heaters available, do a search on Google ;) .

p.s. http://projects.205gtidrivers.com/b1ack_mi...sembly/CIMG0245 :);)

Yes, I like this project. It even inspired me to change the color of my car. First, I wanted to paint the car white, but eventually abandoned that idea and decided to paint red outside and black inside. But now I want to make it white inside, white seems to be much more fun.

Werf!

The window seal is removable and reusable. I didn't take the windshield out myself but when I swapped mine in Moscow I didn't buy a new seal. The service men used the old one. The only guess I have is that may be it is hard (even impossible) to take the windshield out in good shape and save the seal. You either have to sacrifice a seal (cheap loss) or windshield (expensive loss). But it is only a guess.

If you dial me I'll explain in word how I reinstall quarter windows.

If you haven't recognize me yet - i am Sergey and we met a couple of times in Moscow.

Good progress with your project so far.

Yesterday I bought a Peugeot 405 Mi16'87. The machine cost me 800$. It is the engine XU9J4 (D6C) + gearbox Be1. Now I have two engines: DFW and D6C.

Oh why oh why do I love 205s & Mi16s so much?

This and Ifcho's project (he's in Bulgaria) are definitely my favourites on here. Relatively basic conditions & hard to source components, but heaps and heaps of enthusiasm. This to me is the spirit of 205 owners; never say die!

Isn't there something different about the Mi engine in a 4x4? I seem to remember that from somewhere.

Keep up the good work Werf.

This process is not relevant to my Tamagochi ... This machine will become a donor and donating his engine for a child. I just want to show you how the stripping the car and complained that the strip 405 is much harder than the 205!

Peugeot 405 Mi16 was pulled and cut in half!

Is there a difference in gear ratios between the gearboxes of the Mi16 - Be1 and Be3? Be1 - 87 ', Be3 - 91'.

I have both and I can not decide which one to use. I plan to take a box of Mi16 and replace it the first and fifth gears of the gearbox Be1 from 1.6 GTI
