Turbo Engine Cutting Out

Recommended Posts

306-turbo-tom

just finished putting in my turbo engine into my 306,but have a few running problems, well took it for mot the other day failed on my handbrake, passed emissons ok, so the lambha must be working, when the engines cold it will run fine, but when its warm, normal runing temp, it will sometime cut out when i come up 2 a juction, and when u start it up when its warm, drive drive the road it will sometimes splutter and backfire and die out, but when i start it back up it will run fine again, wot would cause this, ive got a spare turbo engine so if it a sensor or something i can change it, was ganna get it plugged in to see if any faults come up but i havent had the time to do it yet, any one got n e ideas

first on the list to check would be the ecu temperature sensor. checking the actual sensors resistance vs coolant temperature and comparing them to the values from peugeot will give you an idea if its running too rich or too weak. the values should be in the haynes manual.

if that checks out ok, check the wiring, one wire should be direct to the ecu, and the other will be an earth, make sure that both the wiring and earth are ok.

its a very simple fault but it will completely screw the fuelling up if its out.

havent fix this problem yet but i think ive found out wot it is,

i think its fuel related, i dont think its holding its fuel pressure when u turn it off and the fuel is running back down in to the tank,

earlier on when i got back i switched the car off and got out and i could hear a noise from the filler cap, cant explain wot the noise was like but it sounded like a bubbling noise like the fuel was coming back down into the tank.

just want to know y i would lose fuel pressure and why the fuel would return back to the tank when not running, is it time for a new fuel pump???, or can i buy something to stop it happening.

the only other thing is y would it start and run fine when its cold, but not when the engine is hot?

any help would be great, thanks
