Quick Carb Question, Cutting Out When Accelerating

Recommended Posts

as many of you may know, my roland garros was rear ended a little while ago and looks as if its going to be written off, so with my plan of buying it back and fixing it myself, i thought i'd get a little something to use in the mean time: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=140295574734

and for the princely sum of £86.27 and only 90k miles i thought this was worth a punt :) only problem is, it apparently has a carb fault making it cut out when you apply the throttle, but ticks over fine. so i'm immediately thinking the main jet just needs a clean, but then i remembered my friends gt having the same problem and after swapping the carb it still wasnt solved, so is there a possibility that it is ignition related? any help would be appreciated greatly as always

john

my GT had the same problems, turned out to be a very clogged fuel filter... could be a possibility

A good service (dizzy cap, rotor, leads, oil change, filters, carb clean etc) should see it right i would have thought.
