Plastic Windows, Whats Your Preference?

Recommended Posts

pugpete1108

just made some front plastic windows for the 205 using 2mm clear acrilic (all my local b&q had).

imjust a little worried about the security of it as the acrilic seemed very brittle?

also would not be able to use this for the rear window as i dont think it will create a good enough curve and be far to wobbly due to the size of it.

what have others used for this mod? and any idea on where to get some from?

Need to use some Lexan really. If you need some give me a shout, I have plenty of sheets in stock.

Might be a bit of a noooob question, but is Lexan polycarbonate? If so, how much are your sheets and is it bronze tinted or clear?

I couldn't believe how expensive bronze polycarbonate sheet was when I searched! :)

I'll find out a sheet price this morning. Our sheets are clear Cameron, and yes it is a polycarbonate.

I'd change the whole set to be honest, as even a small stone flung up when driving will shatter acrilic easily. You won't see lexan break, it's what they make police roit sheilds from!

Cool, the sheets are pretty big aren't they? 8ft x 4ft or something like that?

Yeah they are 8ft by 4ft, cost £130 plus VAT for a sheet.

A piece to do a 205 rear screen will be around £40ish...

I bought 3 1000x500mm sheets of 4mm PC for £44 delivered off ebay. They were perfect for doing the side windows

Is one 8 x 4 sheet enough to do the lot?

Sorry to intrude...does anyone have pictures of the rear side ones fitted...preferably not the riveted type, the ones that use the original rubbers. Cheers

Unfortunately not, bought it about 9 months ago now. Just stick '4mm polycarbonate' into the search and it should pop up with something.
