.... if not all of this areas i would certainly do these ones (will do like that on my other car , this orange one on the pics isn't mine  it's just for sample ...) :

strut tops with the reinforced plate , weld all around , and the areas around the strut tops where the panels join into one segment (just grind off the seam sealer and make seam weld with few cm's pause in between each one ..) and floor panel to firewall joint also seam weld with few cm's pause in between each :

these rails on the both inner wings :

and this the bottom area above the front subframe mounting points :

... further on (while you're at it) , i would do this as well :

front sill to the frame area (from the inside and outside ..)

and most important panel joints around B pillar areas ..

B-pillar to sill joint (this one always crack around OE spot welds) and further on stretch the weld a bit in between the sill and the gap of the rear panel (yellow circles) , could fill up the entire area but me thinks that the 2-3cm's from the B-pillar joint will do the trick just fine  :

..inside as well :

you can take a look at mine http://s188.photobucket.com/albums/z143/oi...%20Rally%20Car/

I decided to modify the tunnel for the Mi going in, it's not compulsory but I wished to do it this way. What I would say is if you're going tio strengthen the pedal box then do it on the inside, this way it doesn't push the pedal box out. Mi16 and Gti6 are tight enough to get it as it is, without adding to the problem!

just to point out on this pic here

IMG_9462-1.jpg my rear 1/4 has litrally split all along where you have welded here, im guessing it will take some filler work before its ideal for paint.
