Hello, I'm going to change seats left-right and restoring worn seat polstry but how to remove that back regulator knob - plastic cover comes with ease but metal thing is very tight? -how it comes off???

What happend if I dont use that plastic bushes to replace seat need to be lower:

You can leave the plastic spacers out no problem, it gains you a little bit of headroom which is handy if you are tall.

That was point. But if I want to drive with helmet its only way to weld new rods under seat.
